You can only login with Facebook or Google account. Few months ago I was able to download the file inspecting the html of the mobile site, don't know if they changed it.

I don't find the option to register with a regular email and password. I made a fake facebook account to test.

No doesn't work unless you have already an account. I guess that's for users who registered in the past where email registration was allowed.

In that case a plugin becomes much more complex

Don't expect a plugin any time soon or later because at the moment there exists no code for facebook/google shared login method
