That happens because you got "subfolder by packagename" enabled (which is enabled by default), see:
https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...ackage-feature
We are working on:
- Auto "too long filename" filename truncating
- Better error message whenever something related to the download directory goes wrong

We also got a support article about the error message you mentioned which would have also lead you to the solution:

I'm open for feedback but this one is just a beginners' fault. We do not have any fancy beginners tutorials.
If JD would not have packages, adding multiple multi part archives would be a mess in the UI in the end.
The support article I mentioned also shows that packages are expandable if you look at the screenshot in said article.
Also you can configure JD to always auto-expand all added packages:
Settings -> Advanced Settings -> LinkCollector.packageautoexpanded -> Enable this

As explained, some future version will have more precise error messages- and auto filename shortening.
If you want to join the discussion about said feature, feel free to do this here:

TL;DR
We know about the download directory/filename problem you mentioned.

Thanks for your feedback.
