Default Install Confusion

I'm new to JDownloader and I have a very basic question.

Why can't I download the usual setup.exe file and install JDownloader offline?
I never install anything online, including system updates.

After performing a Google search, I found a 29 MB setup file at filecluster.com.
I thought it was a complete JDownloader install package. Not true. The installer
must detect a web connection or it will not proceed.

Is there a JDownloader package that can be installed offline?

I think
simply if you cannot download the JD online, you cannot use JD to download other files from the internet
:)

No.

JD is in continuous developement and is updated almost everyday (sometime several times a day). As such, providing/maintaining offline installers/update packages would not be feasible, as they would become outdated almost within hours of their release. Any "offline" installers you find from unofficial sources will be "outdated" for the same reason.

Thanks kov_123 and mgai.

Several days ago I was searching for a new download manager. I read a brief description
of JDownloader. It seemed different from all the other managers. Antivirus software is
constantly updated with new definitions, but I can't think of anything else that needs to
be updated everyday.

I install everything in a virtual environment to protect my home office computer. If there
are no problems it becomes permanent.

Is there a complete description (or help file) that explains how JDownloader works? If I
understand how JDownloader works, I won't be concerned about installing the app online.
I clicked on your Help link. Not much info. ("Knowledge Base still under development.")

@spanky: JDownloader supports nearly 8 thousand different sites/services. Some of them update their site several times a year, others even several times a month and others several times a week. We release updates immediately after fixing plugins/bugs so the user doesn't have to wait(why should he wait when the bug/plugin is already fixed).
We've designed our update system in way that each version/installer can always update to latest available version and doesn't make sense to use to provide a full installer that is outdated few moments after creation.
