Default Plugin Request: Reconnect/restart downloads if they hang up

I have a faulty internet connection, which sometimes results in the http downloads interrupted: they "hung up" when there is no obvious reasons to.

Problem is not specific to JDownloader, and sometimes happens in browsers as well.

Since hardware resolution of the problem is not actually possible at the time — maybe a plugin could help with the situation?

Reconnecting helps and I guess it is what plugin should do: check if there have been any progress with the download for the last X seconds, and if there have been none restart download and/or reconnect.

Without it, JDownloader do not actually automate anything for me.

Okay, my bad. JDownloader actually restarts hung downloads, but there are quite a delay before that happens.

How could I change the timeout?

Have more things for JD to do during the wait before resuming the download (download several files at a time, preferably from more than one host).

The wait is necessary because if there is a broken connection it means something is terribly wrong. It could be an overloaded server, an overloaded client computer (running JD), improperly set-up router, firewall, or antivirus, or internet problems.

Most of the disconnects are surprises (the server stopped responding). Sometimes the server is able to tell JD how long to wait. Otherwise, JD waits a nominal amount of time, and tries again. If the server is still down, JD waits a longer amount of time. This is all part of standard internet policy.

I believe that right now the nominal timeouts are built into the Host Plugins. I am not sure. If the wait time is in the plugin, you can just change the source and recompile the plugin.

Cool Resumable hosts for freeloaders

@Paul Somebody

I would try to solve those connection problems because I understood they're at your side.

If you can't and you're a freeloader like me, I recommend using resumable downloads only. You won't lose too much data when you're disconnected as jD can resume those downloads where they stopped. Here are some resumable hosts (that I tested myself) :-

- bitshare.com
- depositfiles.com
- duckload.com
- easy-share.com
- filepost.com
- files.mail.ru
- filesonic.com
- ifile.it
- ifolder.ru
- keepfile.com
- letitbit.net
- limelinx.com
- mediafire.com
- megaupload.com
- megashares.com
- multiupload.com
- mystream.to
- narod.ru
- netload.in
- rapidshare.com
- shareflare.net
- turbobit.net
- uploadbox.com
- uploadhere.com (NEW)
- uploading.com
- veoh.com
- vimeo.com
- wupload.com
- x7.to
- youtube.com
- zshare.net

Yes, I confirm that x7.to allows reconnect to the unregistered and free users.

This is also a good one: netload.in — resumable downloads and good speed.

And linkcrypt.ws is also very good, with remarkable speed.

I guess it's general tendency: they all offer good speed and service while they are just entering the market to impress and attract customers, and when they take some market share, they offer the usual, like depositfiles and rapidshare.

DF and MU are old hosts but they kept "resumability".

The only old hosts that never had or dropped this feature for freeloaders are RS and FF.

Depositefiles and Multiupload have resumability for freeloaders? That's great news.

Multiupload.com uploads your files to multiple file hosting sites. It isn't a file host.

Well for some files they provide direct downloadlinks so sometimes multiupload can also be the host.
I just wanted to correct that^^

Thanks for the correction. You know so much that I don't know. Added multiupload.com to my list.

ifile.it also support resumable download, and their registration is free.

Added, but maknyos.com is too small (alexa traffic rank 17,939). I'll only add the important hosts, otherwise the list will become too long and boring like paradise.

I too am a freeloader, and Remi's list was extremely useful for me. I could not find anyone or any other site with a list of resumable download sites for non-premium users. Was hoping this list here would have seen some new updates.
Anyway, can we add Wupload to this list? Tested it myself

there are two method of download for letetbit, configure skymonk within jd plugin settings. You can resume using that medium, it also doesn't have captchas. The web method requires captcha solving by the JAC maybe by human if it can't do it automatically.
