Unpleasant Issue
Okay, so, first of all I'd like to say how much I like current version of JDownloader. It's simplicity of use is just plain impressive - it's been a while since I could start off my downloads in a blink of an eye and just forget about them even quicker. Great work guys!
However, unfortunately there are certain bugs bothering me. More specifically saying - the menu, occasionally gets all flashy, some parts of other things mix with each other, which eventually turns into one, messy, unreadable pile of nothing, forcing me to restart JD, unless I wanna guess where's what. In addition to that I'd like to point out, that I'm using the most current version, updated yesterday (0.8.324) or at least the newest I could get over the built-in updater (The bug's been happening in previous version as well). I also have got Java 6 Update 16 installed on my PC. OS - XP home 32bit, SP3 and everything up-to-date. There's also one particular option that's quite annoying. I'm talking about the "fatal error" thing that usually happens when a file is unable to be downloaded for few times. Any possibility to extend that number to something more reasonable? Thanks in advance for any answers/solutions that might come. Best regards. Last edited by Jiaz; 04.09.2009 at 19:29. |

You're probably using the Nightly version. This is a test version for testers and you should expect more bugs. If you have bugs, please report them with a complete and detailed log.
The automatic retry feature is wanted by many customers, but it seems to be difficult to design/implement. |

I've been looking for one but I couldn't find it.
Any directions? EDIT: Unless you meant the one in JD. I was hoping it saves a txt file somewhere on the HDD. If so, please reveal me it's location, and I'll post it here. EDIT2: I uploaded the log. I'm not sure however whether it contains logs since the installation or merely since last activation. I found an entry "error: 3" though so I thought I'd upload it anyway. EDIT3: Okay, I triggered the thing to happen. Re-uploaded second log as well. I was just messing with link statistics, double clicking them when it happened. Hope that helps. this is a issue caused by java and your graphics driver
following might help: 1.) update graphiccard drivers 2.) deinstall all java and install 1.6_13 3.) choose another theme in jd (settings-interface)

Java 1.6_13?
Do you mean Java 6 Update 13? Why would I have install an outdated update? Is that even available to download anymore? EDIT: Despite no answer I tried to follow all these steps. 1. GPU drivers updated: NVidia 190.38 to 190.62 2. Java Runtime Environment reinstalled (JRE 6 Update 16) 3. JD theme changed to "Substance Mist Aqua" (God, those themes are awful) We'll see how this is gonna work out. Last edited by Hachimen; 04.09.2009 at 02:59. |

Just happened to me...
I reported this a couple of days ago and it happened again today.
System: JD: 0.8.324 Win XP 2 GB Ram Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 512 MB (latest drivers as I can tell) Java: 1.6.0.11 As I noted before, this happens after I add several links from Linkgrabber to Download tab. Altough the interface is completely unusable, the files are added to download queue and current downloads continue with no problem. I'll try to update Java and see what happens... |

Looks like it's working fine this time.
It's been running all night long, without any problems. I'll keep testing and report back later today. |

such graphical issues are not caused by jd
they are java+graphic card driver issues.... we can only give hints about how to solve them trying out different java versions updating directx starting jd without direct3d (use boardsearch) updateding graphic card drivers

I updated Java yesterday to the version Jiaz 1.6_13 suggested. I'm using the "Windows Style" theme (the simplest, I think) but it has crashed again...
I guess that as Java sucks so much I have to live with this issue. Mmmhh could you port JD to AIR? |

Did you disable window decoration?

Yes, I did...
I've managed not to get this problem by NOT doing the following: Don't add too many links from Linkgrabber to Download list at once. JD has been running for almost 48 hours with no problem! I used to change the directory for many links (still in Linkgrabber) at once and with those links still selected I right-clicked on them to select "Add selected packages (12)" and just after that, the interface got messed up. This happened after a couple of times of doing this. The links were added to Download list and downloads continued but interface was useless. Hope this helps... <edit> Almost forgot: When interface is messed up, the info tips still work, even if I put the mouse over the tray icon. </edit> Last edited by Kike; 05.09.2009 at 21:44. Reason: More info given... |

When interface is messed up = not JD fault, its a Java-Graphic Card issue
following things might help: 1.) deinstall java and try an older version eg 1.6_12 1.6_13 2.) reinstall graphic card driver, update 3.) start jd without direct3d(use boardsearch) 4.) try different jd themes (eg meta, windows style)

Well, it has never happened with any other Java app (i.e. Eclipse) on this same computer...

Eclipse uses normal default LAF, jd uses Synthethica and other LAFs, that of course use much more graphic functions.....as i said, pls try all different themes
