The mac scheduler GUI is now accessible in the nightlies, however, I have no idea where it gets the system time from, all I can say is that it is very wrong.
When you initially open the dialog, it puts the correct time on the UI, but after creating a schedule, the time remaining for the next action is obviously incorrect. So it must be getting the time from somewhere else once the schedule counts down. For example, I created an event that should have triggered in 2 minutes, yet, it lists over 9 hours remaining before the event executes :/. I'm thinking that this might have something to do with time zones - but I could be wrong... For reference, I am running Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6). Can someone please fix the scheduler asap on the mac, I tend to download after 3am and since the new JDownloader release, the scheduler has basically been out of order/otherwise broken. I found out, that therer is a "comma" between the 2009 in the field to type the year. So there stands "2,009" an so the sheduler doesn´t work. Could this be your error?

Well, I do have the comma in there and you can't get rid of it, but I'm pretty sure that's not the problem here since I've got my event set up to happen daily.
What happens with me is that my scheduler should kick in after 2 minutes, yet it says that there is over 9 hours remaining before the next event. It's not just a UI glitch either, it really doesn't do anything after the 2 minutes are up... yet, it manages to set the time correctly when you initially enter the scheduler dialog, which raises questions about where it gets the time when the scheduler is actually running. So the point is, the scheduler is just broken... |

According to replies in the forum, but I can't remember when and where, the jD Team are working on it.
I've collected some other threads concerning the scheduler :- http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=6319 (Scheduler 7.504 bugs ?) http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=1195 (Scheduler help lol) Luckily, I've found an alternative for some of your scheduling demands. Please read this post. |

I'm seeing the same as what this guy said:
"1 - Scheduler version 7279 seems to work OK but the "Next Execution" column displays a strange value. eg 08:25 not matching the next scheduled event time." Only, it isn't just a GUI glitch, it really doesn't run the schedule at the right time! I have no idea where it gets the time from but it sure as hell isn't correct. I'm on a Mac btw... and those programs wouldn't really suit my use anyway. |

While these problems with the scheduler are being addressed by the jD Team, you can try Throttled 0.5. It's for Mac as well. You'll probably be able to google other tools as well.

I dunno, I redownloaded jDownloader and did the updates... this problem still exists. My scheduler is 9 hours out. As in, if I set something to happen in 1 minute, it will take 9 hours before it is actually executed.

I've prepared a screenshot showing the scenario I'm seeing. I did however just notice that I have 5 updates incoming, but they don't actually seem to be able to download for some reason. It is *possible* that these updates fix the scheduler, but since I can't seem to actually update it, that's hard to confirm. Anyway, I've attached the screenshot.
I'm just looking into another issue as well, it seems that even if you fudge the time, it still doesn't execute the schedule on the mac once the timer hits 00:00, on top of that, the scenario in the screenshot is not just a UI glitch, it also doesn't activate on the time you actually set, so I don't know when or if it actually ever does what it's meant to do. For the time being, is there an alternative way for me to get those updates? The in-software updater seriously isn't working, and attempting to update to the nightly just gives me a 404 error. |

The board seems to have resized and reencoded my screenshot so badly it can't be seen properly, so I reuploaded the shot with megaupload:

Not sure why this is marked as solved - I'm still having same problem. Does 'solved' mean 'wait for next update'???

The old meaning of [solved] could also include that a bug report was created in the tracker.
See Bug #520 : Scheduler, too buggy Nothing has been done about this particular bug, as you can see. |

So it has been a while now and as far as I can tell, nothing has changed.
Is there something we can do as users of the application (other than shutup) to help with the problem? ![]() |

Not personally, but I should be able to send a few your way. I'm sure you're all doing all you can, and imagine with the number of bugs in the list currently it must feel a bit
![]() ![]() Maybe it's partially a task management issue - seems that none of the high priority tasks have been assigned at present and the bulk of work is being focussed on 'normal' priority fixes. All whining aside, JDownloader is a great application that makes downloading easier even without scheduler; so thank you! Edit: And thanks remi for making the effort to post regarding workarounds like throttled - at least a bit of a solution for now. Last edited by poo; 19.09.2009 at 12:45. |

There are a some Immediate and High priority tasks assigned to coalado and jiaz.
I suppose nobody else is able to solve the other Immediate and High priority tasks. I speculate it involves code that these two devs have written or that the learning curve would be too steep for other devs. These two people are also performing other tasks than programming. Jiaz for instance is giving support on this forum and performing server administration tasks. These other tasks will delay all programming tasks as long as nobody else can perform these tasks. Don't forget that not many people know how to program properly in Java and that there's very high demand for them. If you know some devs, please ask whether they have sufficient competence and time to help. |

Besides having a real life too and being in the middle of a University Project, i also have to administrate the servers, give forum/email/chat support, finding/fixing bugs and much more.....you see that time is the limiting factor here. At the moment we are fixing as many bugs we can and still trying to find the mem/cpu issue. Coalado is working on the updatetools (we had some server changes). When the update tools are finished we will release plugin updates more often.
For the Scheduler. We know that its not perfect, but we are also working on that when we have time. We just think that a working JD (hoster,no bad bugs) is more important that some addon. I also thank remi for his great support here in forum and his digging in our Issue Tracker ![]()

Thanks for taking the time to respond guys. All very fair and totally understandable answers. As you mention Jiaz, life is great at smashing you with the unexpected, let alone the daily rigours!
I'm not sure how familiar the two people I know of who know Java are with it, but I have pointed them to a few relevant threads with fingers crossed ![]() |

Jiaz, Please do give some priority to the scheduler, as this is not just 'some addon' as you say, because for people like me who don't have unlimited broadband connection schedulers are very important in-order to utilize free night time downloading.
Its been almost a month since I've used JD because of the scheduler bug.:crying: |

Awesome job guys, thanks so much for sorting the scheduler! Functionality is looking like it will be better than ever, and I read in other threads that there are a few more improvements to come with next release too. Really appreciate your time and effort in getting this working
![]() Would be great if it's possible to add 'stop after current downloads' to the scheduler options in the future, so that if you have a series of big downloads scheduled and it takes a little longer than the time allocated it can still finish rather than being terminated part way through. Edit by Jiaz: will come with next update Last edited by Jiaz; 15.10.2009 at 03:41. |

What's exactly your problem with the scheduler add-on? Can you please provide a more substantial problem description?
1) What result did you want to obtain? 2) What did you do? 3) What was the result you obtained? |

Hey Remi,
I really don't think I could be more descriptive. If you read my post 24 above it explains it exactly, including the pertinent section of log and link to what sounds to me to be a related (apparently solved) problem. I go to Addons, Schedule, then click + to add a schedule and nothing happens. Nothing. No window to set up the times and details, it just stays in the Main window and does nothing. The version before this latest release I had it working fine... So you are using JD 0.9.059 on OS X and have it working? ![]() |

No, I'm using Windoze, an older version of jD and I don't use any add-ons.
![]() I'm trying to understand what's not working on your computer. Your add-on might not have been installed correctly. You could try to delete the add-on in your jD folder and try to update it again. Please, exit jD first before you remove the add-on. |
