Default Can't change download path

Hello,

I've installed Jdownloader2 on Ubuntu 20.04, but I can't change the defaut download path. When I click "Browse" the window can't browse my extern disk : /media/seb/NTFS/

If I change the path manually by entering the path with the keyboard, it seems to work but when download begins error appears "can't create directory"

Sounds like you've installed the community flatpak version which restricts access to very few folders, for example Downloads only. You have to modify the configuration of this flatpak package to allow custom/different folders as well.

You're welcome!
In both (snap, flatpak) you will have to customize the allowed paths by yourself. Maybe a symlink would have worked, I don't know.

HI, you can easily configure the directories you want in this great software for flatpak permissions, read this article it's good to know how to overcome some permission issues with ease. The software is : FlatSeal

medium.com/nerd-for-tech/linux-flatpak-permissions-easy-mode-826602463d80

It's easy, enter the software -> choose the download -> file system -> add your folders locations, and exit... next time you boot ..all the paths are available. (even external disks)

Good Luck

@pirex360: Thanks for sharing your findings. Maybe you can tell the name of the software? as the article is locked behind login wall

FlatSeal is a must for flatpak software... nice graphical UI and easy to configure.

I'm really sorry for reviving this thread, but a few days ago I had the same problem, I installed it by "sudo flatpak install jdownloader" (I use Fedora 38 Workstation), but I was told not to use "sudo" for Flatpak packages.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but with "flatpak install jdownloader", but I get an error during installation:

I have also tried with the official id name "flatpak install org.jdownloader.JDownloader", but same error.

I'm looking for help on the official fedora/flatpak sites, but maybe you guys can tell me what commands you used to install it.

(My secondary problem is that jdownloader didn't download the file at 100%, but this is a secondary problem right now since I have to get jdownaloder re-installed first)

Thanks and sorry for reviving the thread.

No worries.

Just keep in mind that none of us is using Flatpak and none of us made any of those Flatpak packages so even though you said you've already checked the Flatpak help articles I'd still point you in that direction and/or recommend to ask that question in a flatpak community forum or similar.

I have finally solved the problem!

I don't know which of these was the solution, but I did the following:

-I have formatted and reinstalled Fedora, but this time with the English language (perhaps this could be the error, since it was not the default language).

-I have installed JDownloader from the terminal with the correct command:
Code:
flatpak install jdownloader
(previously I used "sudo flatpak install jdownlaoder", maybe this was the problem).

I also installed FLATSEAL, but I haven't given JDownloader any permissions or settings, as it works perfectly after installing it.

I haven't yet tested if it works correctly outside of the Downloads folder, but FLATSEAL should fix that if it doesn't.

I'm really glad I got this fixed as I thought I'd go back to Windows 10/11 just so I can continue using JDownlaoder.

Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience!
