Check if links are dead in downloaded links ?
Hello,
my idea is simple: When you are in the "download" windows, you can keep a links list That is to check if you have already downloaded this or this file, but with time, some links are dead, but you can not know that ! So, if you can creat a new function to check and take off from the links list, all the dead links, it will be great ! Another thing can be usefull: Can you add in "detail columns" the column called "TYPE" ? Thank you |

Yes but when you have 1000 and more files, you need after that to check every icons who indicate the file is broken...
Try it, and you'll see what i propose is something more simple ;) |

JD always linkchecks prior to downloading at the individual item level.
JD2 makes all linkstatus 'unavailable' after restarting. JD2 has a feature to detect if a file within spanning range is missing (as in: lowest <> highest, any within range missing == notifies you.) JD2 has many filtering systems, and column sort views. Your feature kinda exists if you only add links to download tab when you need new download content. No option currently to not download package or group of files if files given files are missing within range (like archive rule above). Not all hosters allow online file checking, some also have out of sync dbs. Both would make your feature prone to many false positives.

I understand that you have ~1000 links and you need to check manually every link?
If so, then in the download tab you can select all links by pressing ctrl + a then check the status. When JD2 has ended to check the status, you can sort the files offline by clicking in the column called: Active task. Edit: Sorry zatoki I was writing and I didn't see that you post.

i have JD 1, and im talking about the list of the links about files i have already downloaded !
I keep that list to avoid to download same files again ! But, sometime, some old links become dead, so i wish to have a function to check all my links from my list and take of all dead links from this list ! Simple no ? |

We do not have a highly advanced dupe feature in JDownloader, other than checks prior to downloading. This check only checks if filename already exists on disk within given save location. This doesn't work well if you extract archives! It's not recommended storing links and using your download history as duping feature, as each link stored requires memory allocation and this chews resources.
I have though JD could do with a more advanced dupe checking service, but the trade offs are that most users can and will download files of the same filename multiple times. A feature like this only works well if you use a single source for a given item. Many files on the net are downloaded with static filenames, others just with common filenames. Both would cause a nightmare situation with dupe checking. We do have ticket for download history, this item could be used for dupe checking going forward but it's very low priority task.
