JD2 not restarting after manual update
Hi JD Team,
After i click on the flashing update icon and start the update process, JDownloader downloads and installs the updates and exits i.e. doesn't restart the main gui. I have to manually restart JD (after checking if it's not running in task manager). Running on Win 10 x64 and JD install is on another root drive, moved it out of the default installed folder and symlinked it just in case, but still run it directly from the custom path. Log: 09.03.22 14.35.11 <--> 09.03.22 14.59.09 jdlog://3156925302851/ Please advice. Thanks and Regards. |

@reddevil: Check your filesystem/hardware on
S:\JDownloader 2.0\ Log shows that it might contain filesystem issues

Does the appdata/local/JDownloader.. folder still exist? We tried to reproduce the issue but could not find any issues. Would it be possible to do a teamviewer session? contact us via support@jdownloader.org

The folder at C:\...\AppData\Local\JDownloader 2.0 is a Symbolic link to the actual folder at S:\JDownloader 2.0 but that should not be an issue since am running JD from "S:\JDownloader 2.0\JDownloader2.exe" And about Teamviewer, i can't for now. |

@reddevil: what happens when you remove the symbolic link? just for testing?
why symbolic link at all?

Maybe in future? Right now we cannot reproduce the issue

I have removed the symbolic link for now and waiting for the next update to send logs if the issue occurs. Teamviewer ... yea, maybe later.
Now as to why i created a symbolic link folder to JD was because my links are very high (as of now 1430000+ links with 80000+ packages ) and it was killing my ssd coz JD is running 24/7. Only later found that just moving JDownloader 2.0 folder is enough, but since all was working fine (except this issue) i just let it be. |

@reddevil: you can easily *enforce* a full update by deleting the update folder of your installation.
you can remove this folder while JDownloader is running and the hit the update button. You can optimize saving of your lists to reduce number of writes, see https://board.jdownloader.org/showpo...09&postcount=4 in Settings->Advanced Settings eg set minimum delay to 5 mins and max to 10 mins, that will reduce the write load alot. Don't worry, when you close JDownloader, it will do normal save.

Deleted update folder, updated JD. Same issue.

@reddevil:
Please do the following. Close JDownloader, delete the logs folder. Then start JDownloader and "enforce" an update and wait till issue happens again. Then upload new log and please select all available log sessions

@reddevil: can you send me the following file? S:\JDownloader 2.0\cfg\org.jdownloader.extensions.schedulerV2.SchedulerExtension.entrylist.json
to support@jdownloader.org I want to analyze why JDownloader fails to load it You have wrong regex in your filter list, it must be valid pattern/regex Quote:
How much memory does your system have?

@Jiaz, sent email as requested. Thanks for the regex correction.

@reddevil: Thanks! Okay, I guess I now know what is happening. Can you please try the following. Close JDownloader, then backup your downloadListXXX.zips from cfg folder and then move/delete them, so JDownloader will start with empty DownloadList next time? And then try again.
My guess is that JDownloader takes too long to load/save the list and the update only waits a certain amount of time of parent process to *stop itself*. Would be nice if you can verify my idea ?

@Jiaz, You were right, it was the long wait time due to the huge list.
Log: 12.03.22 19.31.04 <--> 12.03.22 19.04.28 jdlog://6076925302851/ Moved downloadListsXXX.zips and started JDownloader, then forced update (by deleting update folder) and voila... JD starts back fine. Exited JD and restored downloadListsXXX.zip (deleted newly created downloadListsXXX.zip first) and started JD. Next, I saw that ffmpeg folder got deleted (due to the forced update?) and so tried a youtube video download to force an ffmpeg install in the form of update. But after 10 minutes and with the JD pop-up stuck at 40.55%, I had to cancel and also end JDownloader.exe task in task manager. Started again, install completed and now is fine. Before all this, I had deleted org.jdownloader.extensions.schedulerV2.SchedulerExtension.entrylist.json and a new one was created which showed [] (before it was all nulls) when opened in notepad++. One more observation: When Restart is clicked from Jdownloader 2's file menu, there is no problem (in wait times etc..), although it takes time. Just fyi. Also, if you don't mind, please look into another minor annoyance: When i click on hoster icon (JD bottom left) in order to tick or untick the account, it is not possible for the first 4 from the left i.e. menu keeps disappearing and 'Add new links to download... [Ctrl + L]' popup is shown instantly. Last edited by reddevil; 12.03.2022 at 15:52. |

@reddevil: thanks for the feedback and confirmation:
"SchedulerExtension.entrylist.json" -> yes, it was all empty/null. but just hittin save again should be enough, manual deletion of the file should not have been required. "Next, I saw that ffmpeg folder got deleted (due to the forced update?)" -> correct, due to removed updates folder, JDownloader no longer has reference to this optional module/extension. It will reinstalled with next update then. I will further check this and fix it, so large lists will not interfere with updates. How large is your downloadListsXXX.zip file? or how many entries do you have in list? you can see in overview window at the bottom. I'm sure I can fix this but might take a while. Not saying that this issue is not important, but is more a problem for *power users* and somehow very rare

@reddevil: Thanks! now I understand I can reproduce but sometimes it works, sometimes it fails.
I will check it when I find time Just asking and of course I understand if you say *no* Would it be possible if you can send me that large file? It's always great to have real world large lists to further optimize memory consumption for large lists. Eg upload to mega and send me the link to support@jdownloader.org.

I really assumed that you guys could generate large lists by simply adding some dlc (duplicates if needed) over and over to create huge downloadlist zip. I remember JD1 had a direct export/import links feature and assumed devs have some type of tool for JD2. But am happy to test anytime for you. Thanks for understanding. |

@reddevil: it's not about adding many links. the real importance is a *real* list with different hosts, different stats (online,offline, finished, broken...) and different locations. an entry for host X may just need very minimum memory, but host Y (due to plugin design, plugin features...) may require LOTS of memory. And that's where a real list helps me to find ways to optimize memory usage and remove unnecessary memory in certain states.
But of course I understand and please don't *push me to the other side*
