If Babylon is a malware what is Yahoo or Google search bar on all another downloaders, i wonder? All guys who talk about that have Comodo firewall installed i'm laughing hard! :D

Edit:

Maybe on Wikipedia they need you for an update also :D
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_%28software%29

Babylon: Malware issues

On 7 August 2010, Microsoft antivirus products identified the software application as malware (identified as "Adware: Win32/Babylon") due to potentially intrusive behavior.[16] Sixteen days later, on 23 August 2010, Microsoft announced that Babylon Ltd. had modified the program and that it was no longer categorized as malware.[17]

Just to avoid some users to waste their time with another free downloaders.
With Mipony NOD32 kills the exe before it was downloaded its better.

Wonder why the Babylon's toolbar is not detected in the browser with JD2?

Jiaz I understand that JDownloader is free and it takes a significant amount of work to maintain, but this is still no acceptable reason to deposit known malware junk onto your unsuspecting users..

All the other toolbars (Google, Yahoo etc) are easy to remove and don't hijack your system in the way Babylon does.. it spread itself across all 3 of my browsers and I was forced to undergo different procedures for each browser to remove it altogether.

It's actually still automatically re-inserting itself into my Internet Explorer even now. Thankfully I rarely use IE so it doesn't really bother me.

Plus, the misleading wording in the installer makes it easy to install it mistakenly.

All I ask is perhaps you should consider less invasive ways to get some return from your software.. I would be happy to support you guys, but this whole Babylon thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

We understand very well your disappointment but consider this: when we love a woman generally we forgive her all... and it's not free. If we love JD it's the same, we can not do otherwise.

Default Funmoods?

OK, just downloaded the JD2 beta today

I'm really not impressed that it came with an invisible payload of some odious malware called "funmoods" that completely sh@t over my browser. Still not got shot of it, every time I think I've got rid of it, it's back.

What was the thinking behind this?

I don't mind ads per se, and jDownloader is so useful I'd happily pay for it :-)

But Funmoods is most definitely malware, classified by most security companies as a "redirection virus" because of the way it completely hijacks your system and won't let you easily remove it. It's also a well-known payload dropper for much worse trojans.

I have got rid of it - finally - by a system restore, which by the way is for most people the only way of getting rid of it.

You have not answer about trust, here you can. When someone talk about tricks used by JD to put toolbars on browsers no need to close his tread it's not acceptable.

Many installers add additional software, even Oracle added (ask.com toolbar if I remember correctly) sth in one of the Java 6 releases installer - did you read this thread?
Did you read the other threads about it?
http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=26483

And putting these screenshots from another part of forum is unacceptable - you can edit your post and put the link to that thread. Stop making mess and stick with the original subject of the thread.

I didn't close that thread, but I agree with tony2long - that thread was about logging and you were writing about something else...

Default What is unacceptable

I'm not alone to think it's time JD change his politic at the install, even if i can understand developers needs money it's not acceptable at all to use tricks to circumvent the choice of users who do not want to install toolbars considered for most of them as malware. Now about JD since several months we can see everywhere only bad comments, like here just as an example: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** JD needs an honest installation without no tricks because it severely affects the trust of users like me had in JD!

It was not intended. Below is comment from Coalado (may I quote here?):

<+coalado> we had a problem with sweetim
<+coalado> there has been a bug that could install the addon even if it was disabled
<+coalado> That''s why sweetim has been removed completly
<+coalado> so there should not be problems like this any more
<+coalado> I hope that's true. At least that' s the answer from installcore

Hope it was not intended but not seen apology anywhere. Say this to users who search after support now to remove what is considered like a virus because of this kind of tricks: http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=25945
Jiaz: Sorry, it was a false detection
Coalado: Its' not a virus.
Coalado: toolbar.exe ist the conduit JDownloader toolbar

Edit: the explanations you quoted from coalado was for Sweetim, he says it was a bug and it's not true. Or it was a bug also for Facemood..., for Boxore..., for Babylon..., it was a bug also for Conduit..., ect..., ect..., so many example of users who had the same experience with these toolbars, who use exactly the same tricks or silent installs. Personally to try JD's toolbar i tested Conduit and it was a big bug. Now of course the result everywhere is JD is associated to the reputation of these toolbars but probably it was not intended also.

If i had known this kind of things before i had not proposed to help for French translation, you can trust me.

I thought you are still arguing about "unwanted toolbars even after clicking "NO I REFUSE"".

It seems that bundling is unavoidable.

I never install JD, just unzipped and use.
