Increasingly downloading videos started to fail. (Not just with JD)
Right now I can't download this with anything: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

I only get a "(BQ).jpg" in a "(BQ)" package. So even fetching the page title fails.

Alright, this includes a couple tries and some other videos:
Code:
27.01.17 18.33.26 <--> 27.01.17 19.46.24 jdlog://8535179150841/
This, only has the problematic video:
Code:
27.01.17 19.46.52 <--> 27.01.17 19.48.34 jdlog://3635179150841/
(But this time the title was fetched properly, also the description isn't missing anymore, only the video)

It looks like only youtube-dl can find and download the 1080p mp4/AVC stream.

It's still odd though. The other two parts are normal with all the VP9 streams available.

I encountered such before where there was no webm and MP4 failed to download. I didn't make note though.

(VP9 streams missing is nothing special in itself)

When highest quality vp9 advanced option is enabled sometimes link grabber will fail to grab anything because youtube tends to encode the vp9 stream last.
Would be nice if there were an automatic fall back option to add the next best with a warning so it doesn't silently fail. Or simply a warning popup that the queue wasn't actually updated yet. I'd rather not leave add mp4 on and double the clutter in the link grabber queue for all the videos which do have vp9's completed.
Happens quite a bit on long video streams as they take youtube sometimes a day to encode into vp9

Could you please provide example links? maybe a logfile too, see https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...d-session-logs and post the shown logID.
In case the format is not available yet, it highly depends if youtube signals that it will be there in future. Without that information there is no real way to differ between *not available* and *maybe available in future*.
So you setup to chose vp9 only and when it is missing, nothing is shown, correct?

Yes, the vp9 as best option was something I had to enable under advanced features long ago I think. I only have best webm checked off.
Usually youtube transcodes the mp4 releases first, and the longer the video, the longer it takes to get the vp9 out.

currently working example
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

by the time you see it though, it might have a vp9
just a matter of finding a recently ended live stream.

So in case the vp9 isnt available, what should JDownloader do? It can either fail silenty (as it does right now) or we can add fallback support to next quality. You can already do that by adding mp4 to the collection settings yourself.

The problem is that it doesn't fail over, it adds both in all cases where vp9 also exists which leads to additional work and clutter.
A fail over only in cases where the vp9 doesn't exist would be nice, perhaps with notification?

You mean it adds VP9 and MP4 but you only want VP9. MP4 only in case VP9 fails/missing?

It means that one could add both "best" webm and mp4 or even aac to get around the problem, but it would lead to additional entries in the queue to sort out for all the entries which do not need this.

YouTube seems to encode the VP9 for each video last, so for long streams they can not exist at all for a day, and only having vp9 webm "best" creates a silent fail condition. I guess that is the problem, the silent fail.

Hi,

I've the same error as avada and dbkarm. I've experienced the same type of error on my machine, but it seems like a rather difficult error to reproduce on other machines. The link provided by avada works just fine for me, but this link **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** doesn't work for me. In the linkgrabber the video's name is missing and it just says: "(1080p_30fps_H264-128kbit_AAC).mp4". When I try to reproduce the error, JDownloader successfully managed to grab 134 YouTube videos (from several different YouTube channels) and naming them correctly, but when it came to the 135th video, the bug occured. The error seems to only occur on videos from certain YouTube channels. In my case the YouTube Channel is "ChillYourMind".

If I clear my linkgrabber and I randomly copies video URLs from the affected YouTube channel (**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**), the error occurs after JDownloader have successfully grabbed and named 27 videos, but on the 28th, the bug occurs once again. The video affected this time is **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** .

I did a third round from the same YouTube channel. The bug occurred on the 22nd video (**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**).

Log:
25.02.17 22.36.22 <--> 26.02.17 03.37.22 jdlog://3559379150841/

I've disabled the setting where JDownloader creates a new folder for every file you download. The YouTube plugin is set to only grab the best video, description, subtitle, audio etc. The plugin's naming settings seems to be the default (I haven't touched them). I use JDownloader 2 for Mac.

The plugin's naming settings: http://i.imgur.com/A9mOIYh.png

Thanks. I will add some more debug in plugin to find root of this issue. Please wait for next plugin update and then create new log in case it happens again

Hi! I'm new here, i hope this is the right topic and it has not been answered yet, but i think it wasn't.

so, i recently set up a new OS. I'm on kdeneon now, so i used your linux-installer from the download page. it all seems to have installed well, i can open JD etc.

now, when i try to copy any youtube link into the "linkgrabber"-page (i hope this is the right translation), it just shows "watch" as foldername and also "watch" as filename with an offline file with unknown filesize... back on kubuntu this worked perfectly.

Also, i tried to open up the youtube-plugin-settings, and it seems to not really be there. when i click on "video2brain.com" for example, the first thing that comes is "Host-Plugin: video2brain.com". when i then switch to "youtube.com", the title stays what it was before (here: "Host-Plugin: video2brain.com"), also not showing any further text... so maybe the plugin is broken?

I also tried to send a logfile, but when i create one, the window with the code immediately vanishes. So i just put you a screenshot here:

I would say something went wrong with installation.
1.) delete Core.jar file and 'tmp' and 'update' folders
2.) sudo chown -R user:group /pathtoJDFolder
replace user group and pathtoJDFolder with correct falues. Make sure you use same user/group that you use to start JDownloader. My guess is that you installed JDownloader as root and now try to run as normal user
3.) start JDownloader, it will update itself to latest available version then

Thanks for your answer. I followed your steps, but strangely, when I started JD, it did not upgrade. I then started searching for updates manually, and got the following error:
Spoiler:

... 5 more

Probably the installation really went wrong, I'm doing it again!

Thanks so far!

Also, the JD-folder was installed to /usr/local/jd2. Is this really where it should be? Alas, I'm not knowing too much about the way linux handles all of this...

edit: So, as I said I reinstalled, and now everything works perfect (so far )
The first time I executed the install-file from terminal, and probably I really did "sudo ./JD2Setup_x64.sh". I also saw that the installer asks where to install JD, and this time it was /home/USER/jd2, as I would expect it to be.

You're doing a good job here, thanks again!

You can rescue the installation by the steps I gave above. I can also offer help via Teamviewer, just send me an email to support@jdownloader.org

After updating JD2 it's missing Opus audio codecs, I checked the youtube host settings its all in red.

Even the previous added opus/webm links won't start anymore, says plugin outdated?

@astroberryz: I suggest we do a teamviewer session (send email to support@jdownloader.org) , looks like your JDownloader only has 128mb ram. Also we can check the problem you have. I'm sure we can fix it in no time
