You can prevent overlapping text in the speedmeter by reducing the buttons in the toolbar, for e.g. by creating sub-menus and moving some buttons into them.

Actually I didn't want to do that, but may be I will do it, may be one icon less will do it.

Can one reduce the spaces between the icons:
?

Thank you for the link.

I have just removed the separators now.

As stated by Jiaz in the other thread, it seems there isn't any solution to the problem. You can try removing the 'separators' between icons. They take up considerable space in the toolbar.

Edit: Saw your edit after posting this reply.

Yes, they use a lot of space, indeed.

Many thanks!

But since Jiaz said, "Hast du Schriftgröße verändert?", I thought there must be a possibility to change the font size.

He was asking if the user had increased the font size, stating that while the size of the font will increase, the dimensions of GUI elements would remain the same and could have resulted in overlap of text in speed meter.

Yes, I had understood. Tha is why I thought: so that would mean, when there was a possibility change / increase the font size in JD there would be one to decrease the font size in JD so the text might not overlap anymore.

The size of speed meter text is already quite small. Maybe it appears so in my system, since I use a different font/size than JD default.

I haven't tried changing it myself. No harm in trying, so guess you can give it a go.

Yes, but I do not have any idea what / where to do this.

And I assume, it would effect all of the other font sizes in JD, not only the one of the speedmeter.

Found it:

Yes, it becomes too small.

But by removing the separators I have enough space for now.

There are some speedmeter related advanced settings to change the text/line/background color of the graph. But I don't think there are any settings to change the font size of the meter independently.

Yes, I couldn't find anything either. And, yes, if there was such a setting Jiaz would have told it.

Now it's fine with the removed separoters, any idea why I did not get it earlier.

Many thanks for helping!

There is no seperate font size for parts of the GUI.
@Dockel: The speedmeter element needs certain amount of space and once the available space is not enough...you saw what happens. Newlines won't help here because it will only *delay* the problem and depending on language/other factors even newline won't help
You can also create submenu entries in top menu bar, that way you can still have many actions easy to access and not require much space
