Default 4k resolution - support

Hi,
I changed my PC to notebook with 4k display and almost every app looks great, but jDownloader doesn't have correct focus.

Are you going to fix it?

Regards,
Tomek

HighDPI Support requires newer java + major GUI changes/updates
We also don't have such a setup ourselves, so don't expect any work on this in near future

What is your display resolution? Font scaling factor?

Thanks for the feedback! Once we got hands on such a display we can do tests with the given settings

A tester alone doesn't help as we need a highdpi/4k setup ourselves for development

I understand that, but if you told me you how to open development version and what information you need, I can do tests for you.

I'm webmaster, so I know a little bit of programming.

I'm sorry but there is nothing to test. We first have to add highdpi support and modify/write new GUI/layout code for it. This requires java coding knowledge.

it is standard in 2018, so do not understand why jdownloader still sleeps

i have samsung u28e590d use 4K 3840 x 2160 px with 150-175% font scale

and i can tell you that it is so blurry that i cant stand it and watch it

are you going to get this sorted please?

thanks guys

as I understand the development team doesn't have any 4k devices so realistically can not develop without access to hardware. Basically situation hasn't changed so still no support.

I doubt that 4k is standard in 2018.
Quick look at steam hardware survey shows that 4k is at below 2%.
store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

Without access to 4k equipment, there won't be any progress for HighDPI any time soon.

how are the chances for an update GUI for HighDPI in 2019, because I have gotten a 4K TV last Christmas.
I am using Linux Mint and font scaling at 1,5.
My Problem is that all the symbols are tiny. As are a few other things.

here a screenshot:

Windows. Sorry for the late response, I didn't get a notification of the forum although I did subscribe to the thread, because my default option was "no email"

Hey there

Any news on this ?

Same problem as @oli0811 for me, on Linux (Deepin) too, display scaling x2, laptop UHD screen 3840x2160.

This should be a priority issue.

Thanks

EDIT : I tried adding `Dsun.java2d.uiScale=2` to the `JDownloader2` bash script at line 445 but it didn't changed anything.

We don't have any dev setups for 4k/HighDPI and it also requires major changes/lots of time and will break backwards compatibility with lots of java versions.

One year later in late 2020, any update on this issue? I think many Mac, Windows and Linux users are on HiDPI monitors nowadays.

Other than that we got a support article informing about this: No.

-psp-
EDIT

It's uncertain when we will find time to work on this because it requires large/complete rework of the GUI.

Default Optimize for 4k screen. Everything is pixelated.

Hello, I just wanted to inform that the application is not well optimized for 4k screens, at least not on mine of 14 '. Everything in the app looks blurry / pixelated; fonts, images, numbers, etc. It would be great if they fixed it. It is an application problem, since apparently it also happens on other 4k screens. In the attached image I compare the letters of the system, with pixelated letters of jdownloader. Hopefully it can be seen correctly.Captura de pantalla (137).jpg

I just want to share my experience, on Windows using 300 % zoom, the app is usable, Windows scales it via DPI virtualization. On Ubuntu Linux 22 using 300 % zoom, installed via snap, the app is completely unusable. Fortunately, I don't need to dl everyday, I can boot into Windows once in a week to do my downloads.
