Regarding the percentaje see the advanced setting > LAFSettings.progresscolumntextposition

I'm not sure if this is the same problem I'm having or not. After the last update a bunch of the icons look weird, but the main problem is the screen keeps going blank.

Thumbs down Feb 10 2016 Updates Killed My JD

JD 2 Beta Build Feb 11.

The updates that came through today totally ruined the interface on my Mac Yosemite OS version. The icon for the packages looks not minimal, but moronic.

Worse, the tab titles/names are invisible. Except if I hover the mouse over them. Then my screen (and the tab titles) flash on and off, as many times as I hover over them. But when I move my mouse back down, the tab titles disappear.

Java programmers historically have met with extremely limited success in terms of anything having to do with UX design and elegant function. I don't know why your team decided to mess with what was working fine in terms of interface.

At any rate, today's auto updates have ruined JD for me. Can you tell me how I can go back to yesterday's (2/9) version and keep it there?

Thank you in advance.:whistling:

There was nothing wrong with the old icon.

It look nicely rendered and blend well with the background colors.

The new icon just looks plain and ugly and out of place against the background and other toolbar icons (that is colored, and has nice gradient).

Then when you expand a package u get the old rendered color icon again.

In terms of GUI, it just looks over the place.

@madmax2:
Read my post above.
This icon has been an "accident" It actually belongs to a different icon set.

Thanks...for the update
How did it accidentally get into the JD2 update?

Are/Can u implement some sort of theme/ icon changing options?

It would be nice if we can set our own theme that changes,
-icons
-colors (all JD colors including background and border)

It will allow us to customize the look of JD2 to what we like
and open the program up to themes created by others.

So we just download theme files created by others or we can create our own themes.

@madmax2: This is exactly what we are doing. We are not done yet, but you already can test our progress:

Advanced Option -> Look and Feel. There are already a few Look and Feels
Many colors can be changed in the advanced options as well. The are bound to the currently choosen look and feel, so you will get your old colors when you switch your look and feel back.

If you want to create an own icon set,
1) simple copy the <installation>/themes/standard folder and name the copy e.g. <installation>/themes/myCustomIconSet
2) Change Advanced Config ->Icon set to myCustomIconSet

Good to know you are implementing this..

Can u create option "Export theme"

Will u create a new themes page on JDownloader.org?
So that themes can be downloaded (that was created by others).

I am not much of a graphic designer, but there are many other talented ppl that can do some great looking themes and icons.

If someone creates a good theme, we will try to add it to jdownloader.

Will you do something similar like this from winrar
It's a suggestion of how to do themes, which is done pretty well on winrar.

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Create a theme page of the best looking themes others can download.

Then you can change the themes in settings in the file menu

e.g.
Settings > Themes > dropdown list of themes installed.

I doubt that there will be many people creating themes and icons sets. That's a lot of work in JDownloader

You won't know how many ppl are fans of this program and wants to create a theme for others to use.
It could surprise you.

---
I think if theme customisation was open up.

There would be some good designers that would create some nice looking themes.

They did it for a winrar, all created by fans as shown on that page

===

So will new updates allow you to switch themes as easy as winrar?

Ok I see it now,

The themes look really nice...

but can u add that as under the file menu item like winrar?
e.g. Settings > Themes

It would allow it to be switch more quicker.

Right now it is not very use friendly to switch themes

Need to go advance settings, filter the word "look"
then make changes.

===
I also suggest you make some sort of Theme webpage, with the look/screenshot of what those themes look like.
Else we are just blind testing what each theme look likes.

===

Does the icons look different?
Or is the themes using the same icons?

Do u have plans to change the icons as well?

===

Also seems to be a BUG

Now I try to change the theme, and it does not change theme on the fly or tell you to restart JD.
I need to manually quit JD2, start again before I see the new theme
.

==
BTW
Some themes, Font color is really hard to read the text
like Black eye.

I guess you did not understand one very important thing:
This is a very early unfinished feature. There are hundreds of bugs and it is far away from beeing finished.

We might create a website with screenshots in the future. We are not sure about this to date.

As soon as this feature is finished, we will add options to get easy access to it. As long as it is in development, you need the advanced options.

You will always have to restart JD to change the theme or the icon set.

Yeah cool..
So far so good.

Just letting u know of some bugs I found...

-JD does not prompt to restart once theme changed, need to manually quit and start JD again
-Font color of some theme is hard to read, I think so far the Black Eye theme is hard to read the font text

===
If u don't create a website
then an alternative idea is to create a window within JD that shows the different theme as icons, and u can directly select that theme within JD.

you have to be joking!!

jd2 is one of the best downloaders ive ever used but this thing looks horrendous. it dosent look sleek, modern, it looks like old java, it looks like something i used back in netscape days. im constantly trying to make it look better always tweaking but can never get it right.

if you add the mechanism to export/import themes you will have a winner.
People will be creative, and come up with some great stuff.
You would create a whole new theming sub community with people investing their own time and skills to make your product even better.
Just look at deviantart and unixporn, theming/modding is a whole sub culture.

in all honesty this is a no brainer.

@3base: Theming support is currently limited to change colors. See Settings-Advanced Settings-search for laf. Did you customize those? Can you provide a screenshot?

Someone with java knowledge can also mod/change the underlying look and feel
