[Solved] Update to latest JAVA?

I remember when some time ago, (like a couple months back i think) JDownloader served a prompter saying not to update to the latest JAVA cause a number of issues have been reported. I just want to know, has this thing passed, or is it still unsafe to update?

You could have updated as soon as you downloaded all the links in your Download queue. Are you still downloading those links?

Yesterday I updated Java from 1.6.0_21 to version 1.7.0_02, there is no problem, my links still there.
Have backup just in case...

finish all your downloads, then cleanup the downloadlist and then you can upgrade java.

I have indeed completed all of my download, but i still like to keep the links in order i need to re-download or know where the link came from in case i missed a password or something. Isnt there a way to back some file, and restore the list in case it disappears after i update?

In which file is the download list stored on?

Database.script in config folder.

I updated and everything seems same as before, but it seems i have jdownloader run as a portable instllation, so possibly the java.exe isnt getting updated with newer installs of JAVA. I guess i should be fine either way right?

Java update is independent from jD.
To be sure you have expected Java version run from command line:
java -version
You'll see something like this:
c:\>java -version
java version "1.7.0_02"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_02-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 22.0-b10, mixed mode, sharing)
Note: Java 7 is not recommended for final users, it's for developers or testers. Oracle still reccomends latest Java 6 update: Version 6 Update 30

I also noticed that after updating first to 6u30 and then 7u02 there were no problems with "missing" links. Maybe the problems was with specific user databases or Oracle improved backward compatibility...

the problem ONLY exists if you update from <26 to >=26
once you are >=26, all is fine

Since i got a portable version of jdownloader, i must have an independent version of java as well. As you can see from my secunia attachment.

BTW, on cmd i get this:

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

How do you update Java without being recognized by system?
Upload the log so we can see what Java version is being used.

Does that mean i need to uninstall JAVA and reinstall it as 64bit?

If you can show a log like that, it means your jD/java combination is fine. Do you still have your links?

simple answer is no, you can manually set/fix a path var, so you can trigger it by 'java' or you can manually type it in

"c:\path to java\java\jrex\bin\java.exe" -version

1.6.0_30 is this the latest for 1.6, but 1.7.0_02 is the latest of all.
