Cant launch in 64 Bit...
Hello, first post here and thanks for your great program!
Im having an issue to get a new JD2 installation to run in 64 bit in Win 7. I was running a portable version before (in 64 bit), and started having memory issues due to large amount of files in the list and couldnt change the memory allocation since the portable folder didnt have any vmoption files, and I didnt want to mess around too much... So I did a separate fresh install (with current JDownloaderSetup.exe), and now if I launch the JDownloader2.exe, it only runs in 32bit java. If I launch (in the same installation) the JDownloader.jar, it runs in 64 bit. I checked a few things, the JRE in the JD folder is an older version 1.8.0.-162, my "normal" java installed on the pc is 1.8.0-261. Even if i disable the JD JRE in the java control panel, it still launches in 32 bit. I tried deleting the JRE folder in the JD installation so it could only launch the "proper" java, but then nothing worked, obviously. Also tried copying the new JRE folder into the JD folder, not working either.... In the java cpl the JD JRE was indicating x86-64, so it should have been ok for 64 bit..... Checking in the ABOUT dialog and clicking on the java text, the JDownloader2.exe opens and reference the inbuilt older java, while the JDownloader.jar runs the newer "proper" java... I even tried changing the memory setting to 1024m in the vmoptions file, but it still launched in 32 bit. SO in summary, it seems the inbuilt JRE lauches only in 32 bit, while the external JRE launches in 64bit.... How can I get my JDownloader2.exe to launch properly in 64 bit? Thanks in advance! Hi,
try the following: 1. Make a backup of your "cfg" folder in case you've already customized your JD settings. 2. Delete/uninstall your current JD. 3. Install the 64bit version from here: https://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2 4. If needed, copy over your old .cfg folder. -psp- EDIT Our 32bit launcher cannot start a 64bit JVM which is why the .jar without launcher will work. The exe needs a 32bit dll thus you should re-install the 64bit version.

Thank you !
Seems to have done the trick! The strange thing was that the first installer I used was this: Download 32/64Bit Webinstaller (Rar-Archive RECOMMENDED) -JDownloaderSetup.exe from this page: https://jdownloader.org/download/index which should have installed the 64 bit, but for some reason it didnt, and I couldnt find anyway of forcing it to do so. Also the link you sent me took me to this single file: JDownloader2_Clean_Installer.exe and there was no 32 bit or 64 bit option. But it seemed to have worked regardless. Thanks again for your help and great program, it is very much appreciated! |

Just an FYI: this is still an issue. Same problem for me - the installer on the site installed a 32-bit program. Win 10 Pro.

Hey guys,
a small update on this installer topic which may help to clarify some things:
I'll mark this thread as solved as the main issue seemed to have been the bad wording of our currently mainly linked Windows installer.
