You can make use of Eventscripter for auto update/restart, see

Isn't there any easier method?
For example from the option menu hidden switches e.t.c.

@Agnostos: Easier than simply copy/paste of a ready2use script, no. There is no out of the box support for this

And why you don't have a way to do silent updates without asking anything at all the jd2?????

Just restart JDownloader. Normal updates are downloaded/installed in background.

We even got a support article regarding the above linked auto update script.
EDIT
@Agnostos

The script does 100% auto updates as you wished.
You will never have to update JD yourself when using that script.

Every use has different wishes/needs, so the eventscripter is the best for all. Some prefer to update only when in idle. Others prefer to check/update before downloads. Others prefer to restart only at certain time.......

I understand, but please understand that there are existing solutions that can be customized to everyones needs. Us just adding a "default" mode will just result in ppl asking again the same question and ask for customization.

The trigger should be "Interval"

The settings are documented in the Script.

I use this script and prefer it. The script works well, but improvements are needed.

While this script is considered one to auto-update JD, there are two primary issues:

1. It's not automatic.
After JD auto-checks for new updates, when it finds then, it requires the user to acknowledge they want to install those updates. A Never Remind Me Again toggle box is destined for that dialog prompt.

2. The update process demands that focus is switched back to JD, during multiple different updating tasks.
Each time JD's interval strikes for auto-updates, users don't want interruption of their currently focused windows and tasks.

The bottom-line:
How can we improve this script with a stealth operation, where auto/interval-updating JD happens silently, in the background? I can open a separate thread, but these two items appeared to piggyback the topic at hand. TIA

Try turning off the following advanced setting:
Code:
UpdateSettings.updateguialwaysontop
