Hey, the same thing has happened to me, I downloaded a file on Jdownloader and it was split into 26 parts from rapidshare, all downloaded fine and where all there in the download folder, but then I downloaded the next set of files which is 3gb split into 20 files again from rapidshare... This time it's upto part 20 and the only files that are showing are 14 and 15, the other 18 parts are not in the download directory, even tho in Jdownloader it says they are complete and in the download folder????

What the he'll is going on? Where are these files and why are they not showing?

Cool

@Shindiglad

Your files might have been saved elsewhere. Use the Properties function in the context menu of the links for which the files are missing and look for the folder where the files are saved ("Save to" field).

If you're using one of the automatic extraction extensions of jD, the files might have been extracted in another folder. Have a look at the extraction settings.

Hi!
I have a similar problem...
I have finish downloading RAR file from rapidshare, and now in download folder 13 files are missing, from 43. What I did and what probably caused that problem is that I paused the download, changed the downloading directory to an external HDD. But then I have made some room on my C partition, so I plug out external HDD, but forgot to change back the path to the primary download directory.... Is there any way to find my missing files... JD says that download is complete 100%.

Ok, i have tested first, and now I am writing.
JDownloader has problems with phantom files!
During the last month I've had about 10 cases of files missing.
I can see JD downloading, and my drives available space shrinking, but there is no file!
I have checked every single place i could think of, and there was no file.
It's on Linux, so we may exclude virus problems.
After i run fsck, it recovered my free space.
So, the problem does exist!
It is rare, but it exists!

EDIT:
As it seams, it happens when links are safelinked.

Try to reproduce the error. Please provide some example links and a complete and detailed log.

@bygynon

Pausing downloads doesn't stop the downloading. I would have waited until the files were finished downloading before removing the disk.

You should be able to find the completed files. Conduct a search on both disks.

Same scenario.
Link was safelinked, and the file is missing.
I will enable logging, and wait for it to happen again.

Note that when changing download-directories, the parts that were downloaded before WON'T be in the new directory...

There wasn't directory change.
Ppl, I know what I am talking about.
First I test, and then I speak!
When links are safelinked, JD starts downloading, makes download DIR, and after that DIR disappears and there is no file, of course, since file is in that DIR!
Few days ago I was downloading Supernatural from safelinking.net link, that I have found on the intrawebs.
In JD download looks normal, but when I look into my downloads DIR, i could see my sp.xxxxxxxxxx DIR being created, and then like deleted.
My mistake is that I have forgotten to enable logging.

You mention about phantom files, this is an excerpt from web:
Phantom file uses encryption, name mangling and file properties in order to hide your files and prevent access by unauthorized users...

So the disappearing of those files are expected or can be predicted.

I forgot to log, to be honest, but I think i know when files are missing.
When I have multiple safelinked sources, and delete ones that are not active, while one active is downloading, download continues, but dir and files are missing.
Try to repeat that.

@tony2long
You are getting it wrong.
Maybe it's my mistake, since English is not my native language.

Please, reread phrase 1 in post #8 or post #13 if you want the devs to analyse the cause and find a remedy.

it is nowhere to be found

maybe this can help other people with the same problem

Unfortunately, a relevant bit of log for you isn't necessarily relevant for the programmers. That's why they always ask for a full log. Please provide a log as referred to in my post #8. Also provide the example links you used to cause the error.

Hi,
I had the same error as elaficionado.
The log is here: http://jdownloader.org/pastebin/50634

OS (from "About This Mac"):
Mac OS X, 10.5.8 (9L30)

OS version (from >uname -v)
Darwin Kernel Version 9.8.0: Wed Jul 15 16:55:01 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.15.4~1/RELEASE_I386

JDownloader version (from about page):
0.9.581

Java version (from >java -version):
java version "1.5.0_30"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_30-b03-389-9M3425)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_30-161, mixed mode, sharing)

Java VM version (from "About This Mac"):
12.9.0

The file http location on which the error occured is in the log. (e.g. you could do >grep **External links are only visible to Support Staff**www.wupload.com.*part05.rar /log/file/path)

Is this all information you need?

It would be nice if the part file could simply be kept if there is an error.
