Default autosort new links by filehost instead of by name

Make an option in settings or where ever to :

autosort new links copied into links tab by filehost instead of by name

Nowadays people paste a single pastebin link
that contains multiple filehost

If I copy the link, it would sort all the filehost by name
So I would then need to click sort by filehost etc..

why? cos I only got one premium account
And want it sorted by that file host, so I can add it to my downloads

Would be good if it can sort by filehost as default...

If your basic requirement is to get rid of all the other links then you can define a filter or just select a link that you want and select "Keep only selected hosts" from the context menu in the Linkgrabber.

Sorting them by host is already possible and will be even easier after the next MAJOR update!

When is the major update coming?

Can't wait

btw how many coders are involved in JD?

It sure takes a long time for any major updates to come out...

I have been waiting a year now for the major update with context menu etc..

No I don't want to get rid of them I just wanted them to be autosort by filehost..

Who knows I might have 2 premium accounts etc..
Before I did but it expired, now only 1..

But my point is
why is it autosort by filename.
give us some option to pick the default etc..
or remember our choice etc..
ie if we autosort by filehost as we picked it, then remember that as our prefer method..

==

Can u show me how to do what u said..
I am not so good with

define a filter

===
just select a link that you want and select "Keep only selected hosts" from the context menu in the Linkgrabber.

Yes, you could do that

but that would be a lot of work each time, u copy a pastebin link etc..
that contains multiple host..

==
just make it easy by making it remember our choice..

Ni i can't.
Also i cannot tell you a releasedate!
At the moment we have 2-3 core developers.

@madmax2

As far as I understand Jiaz' posts #38 and #40 about the ETA for the next Nightly release, a test version will be released around the 9th of January.

Here is an overview of the project and its developers.

Try
Code:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff**
as a Linkgrabber filter if you only want FSc links for instance.

This works great....

but there is a downside

if I got some filesonic links that are only valid links and one of the fileserve link is invalid..

It would keep the invalid fileserve link..and remove the valid working filesonic etc..?? if my premium is fileserve etc..

also some packages don't contain any fileserve links but it would remove any links that does not contain fileserve..
this is pretty dangerous!!!

In the rare case you can't find a complete set of links for the host you prefer, you can always add one of the links of another host to your selection.

No what I mean is

if I do

Keep only selected hosts on e.g. fileserve

all other hosts gets deleted

this is not good if I have been copying a number of different packages..
and some of them only has e.g. filesonic

or if I do that and it keeps a dead fileserve link and deletes a working filesonic link...

What I was saying is that you can select one FSc and one FSe link to keep both sets.

BTW, an automatic sort wouldn't solve this issue.

Our new linkgrabber has filter you can toggle the hosters to remove what ever, but this is manual process, or you can use our new package customiser which you can set to allow hoster rules. Think what your wanting can be achieved totally with the latter, once we have refined the package customiser some more.

what if some packages contain other hosts like megaupload, mediafire but none of the two above host..

That's alot of manual work...

So the feature keep these hosts are good but it is also dangerous
cos it deletes all other hosts, that may not have any duplicates of the the host u are keeping....

and it also keeps invalid links vs a working link
of the host u choose to keep..

so this feature needs more work or fixes...
==

Right now it is good but too dangerous especially if u got other hosts in other packages, that are not the host u want to keep..

or the the host u want to keep has dead links.. it would keep the dead links over a working link from another host..

==

No the point is not whether the autosort by filehost would help or not..

The point is, it should be an option we are able to choose, instead of autosort by name..

Make it so it remembers our sorting choice..

Maybe it might be more useful to us.. in some circumstances..like the one mention above..

You don't want to do anything manually. That means jD needs to take many decisions automatically. These decisions will depend on whether you have accounts or whether some links of download sets are dead/invalid. This makes sense to me.

Is this a good summary of what you actually want?

well originally as i stated in my first post

make it so jd remembers our sort choice in the linkgrabber list..

if we prefer to sort by filehost instead of filename, then remember our choice...
=

why is this marked as solved?
it is not solved....

==

but i think the keep files based on filehost also should be fix or improved..

jd should

-keep a valid link host over an invalid link even if it is not the host we chose..
cos it is pointless keep an invalid host..

-do not delete hosts that are unique, even if they are not the host we chose to keep.

I think the thread is marked/tagged as 'solved' because a moderator thinks he understood your "sort order memorising" requirement and that it will be possible in the next major release of jD.

I think your second requirement is as I described in post #14. I suppose automating this requires a new, more intelligent function. "Keep only selected hosts" should just continue doing what it says.

jiaz indicated it wouldn't be possible to preserve the link order due to addition processes like decrytpers. You have a link for pastebin at link entry 4 but that starts decrypter pastebin and adds another decrypter service link at entry 1000 ? etc..

the order of links should be important. you will be able to use package customizer/linkgrabber settings to priorize different hosts over others and also once the mirrormanagement is done, jd will prefer links with available premium accounts.
in best case i never will have to sort anything

@Jiaz
But still as far as i know there will be an option to activate automatic sorting in linkgrabber.
Please read my ticket and tell me what you think.
I thought this option combined with the selection would be good.
