I would like to make a recommendation for a slight modification to the captcha instructions passed in JDownloader for the new-style FileJoker captchas. It currently asks users to enter "comma sep. results similar to example image," but that can be somewhat misleading (despite the "similar to" instructions being what FileJoker itself offers). What the captcha seems to truly be looking for is all of the shapes with the same number of sides as the reference image (e.g., all of the squares or all of the pentagons). The colors, sizes, and other factors are irrelevant so far as I can tell.

For example, in the attached sample, the correct response is 3,4,5 (all the hexagons), whereas FileJoker's instructions imply that it might just be 3 (the other pink hexagon). In cases where there are other shapes with different sides but similar colors (say, a pink pentagon when the example is a pink hexagon), it can be even more confusing for users.

None of this is JDownloader's fault, since FileJoker itself gives bad instructions for the captcha, but I figure we might be able to make the process easier for JDownloader users by providing better instructions ourselves.

@Twizted: Maybe different wording like:
"Enter comma sep. all images that show the same figure shape?"
Or do you have something better/different in mind?

I just thought about it and I didn't find any way to make it clearer since as you've already noticed, instructions from filejoker themselves are unclear.
Also, at least with the way it is currently made, there is not much more space in that captcha or we'd have to include the instructions at the bottom of the image to make them more precise.
E.g.:

Find all image numbers of similar looking shapes regardless of color and enter them comma separated.
The number of results may vary but usually there are at least two similar shapes to be found.

I agree that there isn't any simple set of words that would fit in the small space of the image. I was thinking that the more detailed instructions might be able to go in the placeholder text where the answer is requested, where there's a little more room.

Unfortunately, I also can't think of a cleaner/shorter description that "shapes with the same number of sides" to explain what it's looking for, and that's a mouthful of words to fit anywhere. I'll continue to give it thought, and if anything intelligible comes to mind, I'll post it here.

I've updated the plugin and added longer "explain texts" for EN and DE Users:

Find all image numbers of shapes similar to the example regardless of color and enter them comma separated. The number of results may vary but usually there are at least two similar shapes to be found.

and:

Suche die Nummern aller Bilder mit ähnlichen Formen (Farbe egal) wie im Beispiel und gib diese kommagetrennt ein. Die Anzahl der Ergebnisse kann unterschiedlich sein, aber meistens gibt es mindestens zwei ähnliche Formen.

For all those not seeing the numbers (as the captcha appears on a Synology NAS):
The shapes have ongoing numbers from 1 to 8 (or 12).

The first shape on the first row at the left is #1, the last shape on the last row at the right is #8 (or #12).

So you have to enter the matching numbers like this:
3,7
if the shape #3 and #7 matches the sample shape.

When including multiple results separated by comma, you can separate them by comma and space or only by comma. Both answers will be parsed correctly.

I've updated the captcha explain text once again.
Looks like some captchas only contain one similar shape to pick.

I've recently been seeing the single-match versions of the captcha, as well. It looks like they may be slightly tweaking the generation algorithm on the back-end over time. In any case, I think the new description is solid for new users that haven't seen those particular captchas before to be able to understand them at a glance. Thank you for making the adjustments!
